Proverbs 21:20 There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man swallows it up.

Proverbs 21:20
There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise,
But a foolish man swallows it up.

As I sit writing this, somebody is repairing – sorry renewing – my sons tyre. Dad will sort these things out – he always does!!

But isn’t that part of our role and destiny as parents? (Within reason, of course.)

I’ve not noticed this verse before but now as I read it, I see that it’s filled with wonder. The word dwelling means a shepherds abode, grazing place, habitation and so on. As we follow after God and His ways, we need to feast on Him, who He is and all that He says so that we can store up ‘precious treasure and oil.’

We need to enter in to peace and rest, security and purpose, provision and distribution in Him so that we have something to share with those who are in need.

The dwelling of the wise is a place where God inhabits. It’s where we invite Him to be, where we cultivate His presence, where we seek to worship, honour and please Him. It’s a fantastic place of life and liberty.

Prayer.

Lord, help me to realise what I already have in You. Then help me to enlarge what You are doing in me. Then help me have opportunity, courage, wisdom and discernment to give as much of You and what You are in me away. Amen.
