Hearing or doing? Burning or being burnt?

As we continue in our journey with God, both as a church and as individuals with the church, God is always showing Himself consistent and faithful. He doesn’t change in the sense that He leads us into new revelations of Himself and His Word, and new levels of walk and relationship with Him.

This new knowledge comes with responsibility however. As more and more of us within the church experience God in increasingly powerful and grace filled ways, the heat is being turned up! Positively! Yesterday, for example, the Presence of God as we prayed, worshipped, fellowshipped and ministered was amazingly strong.

But “we ‘aint seen nuffin yet,” to quote bad English with poor grammar! We are so hungry for more go God, and He is eager to unfold more of Himself and ways to us. Some of us are burning, and are yet to burn brighter. Our prayer is that we don’t cause others to get burnt by our proximity to God – and His proximity to us – but that they will catch the blaze and burn brightly with us for and with His glory!

Some of us, however, are still learning to kill lions and bears. As Bill Johnson and Kris Vollatton mention, David had to learn how to deal with the lion and the bear in private before he could sort Goliath in public. Goliath’s are coming our way, and if they don’t then I believe that God will lead us to them! He is gracious enough not to allow this to happen until we are ready, but the sooner we, that’s both me and you, sort the lions and bears then we will be able to take the ground that are held by the Goliaths!

That means we will see God impact lives, setting people free, healing relationships, bodies, minds and spirits. Much more than we already are. So burn brighter in me Lord, and use all the attitudes and beliefs within me that don’t please you as fuel!
