When God speaks, it’s usually a pretty good idea for us to listen!
Many, however, think that God speaks to others but they themselves are not worthy, pure, holy enough (delete as appropriate) yet God is continually speaks to us all. The very creation around us cries out to God, so at the very least we can look to some amazing thing and see the goodness and hand of God.
Here is some truth. God is good! All the time! And God see’s you, and loves you. But He might not like all the things that you do. More than that, part of the covenant of your salvation is that He wants to bless you.
If we live in ways that disappoint God, we are living in a way which robs us of what God has and wants for us. And why do we live this way? Because we are in ignorance of either some aspect of God, or the true reality of life we are experiencing, or both. Living apart from God, whether that is due to living in a sin filled way, or just not living in intimacy and closeness with Him, means that both we and many around us loose out.
You see God calls us to live in abundance and fruit filled ways. He doesn’t want us to just scrape by in life, getting ‘there’ by the skin of our teeth, wherever ‘there’ is. He calls us to abundance, where there is always enough. In fact He wants to abundantly bless us so that we can be a source of abundant blessing to others.
So can I encourage you to listen to what God is saying. If you can’t hear, go back to where He last spoke and pick it up from there. If you’ve never heard, just ask Him to help you recognise His voice.
He is moving in an unprecedented way today. He is calling and empowering ordinary people to do extra-ordinary things, and He wants to include you and me. So like Samuel of old, we say ‘Speak Lord, Your servants are listening.’
